What are considered “magic spells” today is quite different from the times of sorcerers and superstitions. Much of what is often referred to as “magic” today is really only another more elusive term for natural remedies. Still, regardless of what you choose to call it, there are some certain “spells” that seem to work. While scientific explanations can be found when digging deeper, these spells are often still something to marvel at.
A plethora of herbs, minerals, and roots, for instance, provide positive things for health and good living. The everyday practitioner of “magic” would not likely dispute this or the natural qualities of these items.
Other forms of supposed magic that can be attributed to natural phenomenon are based around proven Earth energies. Some believe that certain stones that hold slight magnetic properties can quell headaches, stomach aches or other maladies. Similarly, there are other branches of magic that claim to have the secrets to healing properties but borrow from modern medicine. A good example of this can be seen in certain “healing spells” that require darkly lit rooms, the lighting of candles and a meditative silence. While these elements are certainly calming, it is also worth pointing out that these magic spells also call for warm water, jasmine oil and Epsom salt (all, of course, naturally proven remedies for aches and pains).
Many “magic spells” are noting more real-world cures for many illnesses. There is a difference; the candles and prayers imply a feeling of spirituality. This play on emotions can actually make the sick party feel as if they are improving in some cases.
This is not to say that one field in more effective than the other. The backbone of medicine has always been scientific proof. If these two fields are compared as such, medicine will win out every time. Still, there are those that hold firm to their spiritual beliefs and claim that magic spells or incantations are just as successful.
